Security Engineer

General Purpose

Engineer, implement, maintain and monitoring security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information. Make things more secure by protecting system boundaries, keeping computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks and securing highly sensitive data. Responsible for preventing unauthorized access to data and respond to privacy breaches.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Design computer security architecture and developing detailed cyber security designs
  • Design and implementing safety measures and controls
  • Identify and defining system security requirements
  • Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks
  • Manage cybersecurity periodic external assessments
  • Monitor network activity to identify vulnerable points
  • Act on privacy breaches and malware threats
  • Analyze IT specifications to assess security risks
  • Design and implement safety measures and data recovery plans
  • Install, configure and upgrade security software (e.g. antivirus programs)
  • Secure networks through firewalls, password protection and other systems
  • Inspect hardware for vulnerable points of access
  • Monitor network activity to identify issues early and communicate them

  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures
  • Draft policies and guidelines (e.g. user security awareness, wireless and networkaccess policy, etc.)
  • Provide Level-2 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Programming and Scripting abilities
  • Experience in building and maintaining security systems
  • Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools
  • Experience in administering security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detectionsystems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering (Firewalls, Web Filtering, NAC, IDS/IPS, Radius, Antivirus, WAF, Anti-DDOS, SIEM)
  • Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g. NIST Cybersecurity framework) and risk management methodologies
  • Knowledge of the following technologies: Fortinet, F-Secure, Forescout, CyberArk, McAfee SIEM, AWS, ElasticSearch
  • Good knowledge of issues and technologies related to information security
  • Familiarity with public key infrastructure (PKI) and cryptographic protocols (e.g. SSL/TLS)
  • Knowledge of patch management, firewalls and intrusion detection/preventionsystems (e.g. TippingPoint)
  • Information Security Certification
  • Understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Good knowledge of Linux platform

Education

Degree / Bachelor degree:

  • Telecommunications (M.Sc. required, Ph.D. preferred);
  • Computer Science (M.Sc. required, Ph.D. preferred)
