Network System Engineer

General Purpose

Athonet provides a complete in-house software-based LTE/5G connectivity platform that runs in cloud or virtualised data centre environments and on ruggedized hardware. The software solution has been fully built by Athonet and has been put through the toughest tests by CSPs, Enterprises and Governments. Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Primarily responsible for customer interaction and management of infrastructure services
  • Answers inbound customer requests from Engineering Departments
  • Assist with maintenance of customer service SLAs
  • Work with senior level admins to determine and resolve high level problems
  • Management of production infrastructure hardware/software and related technologies
  • Identify & troubleshoot server configuration and/or performance irregularities
  • Develop procedures to respond to these irregularities in a timely manner
  • Infrastructure alerts are addressed in a timely and thorough manner
  • Oversee the execution and completion of assigned tasks
  • Document and improve existing processes
  • Experience with Linux performance tuning & troubleshooting, identifying and resolving contention in CPU, memory, networking, disk I/O, etc.
  • Ability to manage changes to the system and assesses the security impact of those changes
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Good knowledge of Network & Security
  • Strong knowledge and experience in server, network and applications, and problem resolution
  • Networking (Cisco, TCP/IP)
  • Understanding & practice of virtualization (VMware & KVM), Hypervisor (vSphere ESXi)
  • Firewall, Microsoft Server, Linux, Ubuntu, RedHat, SaaS and IaaS technologies (OpenStack)
  • Backup tools, image builds and server recovery
  • Confidence using CLI interfaces for management (Cisco, Linux, Juniper, etc.)
  • Technical Certificate (MCP/MCITP, CCNA/CCNP, RHCSA)
  • Knowledge in management of Routers and Switches (Mikrotik, Cisco, Juniper)
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Experience in datacenter technology and server hardware
  • VLANs in enterprise environments

Education

Degree / Bachelor degree:

  • Telecommunications (M.Sc. required, Ph.D. preferred)
  • Computer Science (M.Sc. required, Ph.D. preferred)
